Apparatus Criticus	If nothing more is lost at right than a letter, then we may take ἀφανίσ[ῃ], \| τὸ ἔργον τῷ δήμῳ continuously, in the sense of “whoever destroys the work to the detriment of the people.” The work may be the fountain that housed the outflow from the spring. This would (on our view) explain the reference to Baite immediately before. On line 4, cf. T8.1, line 4 and note. How the phrase concludes is not evident.
